FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

How much do you charge per individual therapy session? For group therapy sessions?

For individual therapy, my fee is $200 for a ~50-minute session. For group therapy, my fee is $50 for a ~50-minute session. There is an option for a sliding scale, as I do not want finances to be an obstacle to support.

You also may be able to use your insurance plan to help pay for therapy (please read the next question fully below).

Do you take insurance?

I am considered an “out-of-network” (“OON”) provider, which means I do not accept any insurance. Instead I’ve made the decision to work directly with my clients regarding payment.

To use out-of-network benefits (“OONB”), you must check with your insurance that you have OONB and you must speak with them regarding their specific OONB processes. Typically this involves your payment up front in the session. I then provide you with a “superbill” which you then submit to your insurance and they then reimburse you. However, insurances vary regarding their OONB procedures, and you must check with your individual carrier. Please be aware of any deductibles you may have.

If you have out-of-network benefits and plan to obtain partial reimbursement from your insurer, a psychiatric diagnosis must be included in each statement. If you do not plan to seek reimbursement, a diagnosis does not need to be included in statements. Otherwise you can choose to see me privately and not involve your insurance at all.

Do you offer online counseling?

Yes, I offer online counseling to clients residing in Massachusetts.

What are your hours?

My hours are Monday through Friday, with varied times each day.

Sessions are ~50-minutes long.

How do I set up an initial appointment?

Reach out here to schedule a free 15 minute Zoom consultation during which we will discuss your needs and talk about setting up an initial appointment.

What is your cancellation policy?

Therapy is a valuable weekly commitment, and I understand that occasional scheduling conflicts may arise. To honor both your time and mine, cancellations can be made up to 24 hours before our scheduled session without any fee. However, if a session is canceled within the 24-hour window, the full session fee will be charged.

How much paperwork do I have to fill out?

Not too much! I have an initial welcome packet for you to fill out and sign. It includes an informed consent, which details the benefits and possible difficulties related to therapy, as well as discusses my practice policies. You will also complete payment information.

What can I expect in the first session?

In our first session, we’ll focus on what brings you to therapy. Together, we’ll look at your relationships, routines, sources of joy and hardship, and different aspects of your identity. We’ll also reflect on your past experiences that have shaped who you are today. Most importantly, we’ll discuss your goals for therapy and what you hope to focus on in our work together.

How long will therapy take?

The length of therapy varies depending on each person’s unique goals, needs, and experiences. Some clients find that a few months help them address specific challenges, while others benefit from longer-term therapy to work through deeper or more ongoing issues. Our sessions will focus on achieving meaningful insights, change, and resilience, and we’ll regularly review progress together to make sure therapy continues to meet your needs. The process continues as long as it feels beneficial and supports your personal growth and well-being.

Will I have homework?

Throughout our work together, I may suggest different techniques that you can use between sessions to deepen and reinforce your progress. I like to remind my clients that “homework is an invitation, not an obligation.” I encourage you to explore simple, healing practices that can be easily integrated into your daily routine, focusing on small, manageable activities.

How often will we need to have a session?

We’ll start by meeting weekly or biweekly, which most clients find helpful, as it allows enough time to process each session without too much happening between meetings. At times, clients may wish to adjust the frequency of sessions, and we’ll discuss any changes to find the pace that best supports you.
